Today's topic will be focused on Growing and Caring for Hostas.

Hostas are one of the most sought after perennial plant for part sun to shade areas. So what is so great about Hostas? Well Hostas are a pretty care free perennial , with a few exceptions. With thousands of varieties out there today what are the best well not sure there is any that are considered the best, but there is a list of many favorites . To name a few Patriot Hosta, Blue Angel Hosta, Striptease and many more.

The genus Hosta originally comes from China and Japan. Hostas like shady, moist, organic soil, but many can tolerate and thrive in other conditions. If treated with a little care (more in the south and west), they will easily outlive those that plant them.

The Green Mound Juniper is an exciting and versatile ground cover juniper despite the rather uninspiring name by which it is known (in North America at least). The term "Green Mound Juniper" does describe the plant in a basic way, but gives nothing away about its twisting wiry branches and neat silvery-green foliage.

This low growing juniper with its tiny spiky leaves makes a picturesque and rugged shape that makes it ideal for growing alongside paving or steps. In the latter case it will tumble in neat cascades down the side of the steps. Its trailing stems are relatively short and neat when compared to other low growing junipers such as the Juniperus horizontalis cultivars.

Viburnum

Viburnum make up a genus of more than 150 species. They are the perfect tree or shrub for many gardens. The blooms on Viburnum, sometimes fragrant, can range from a snow-white to creamy pink in color. Berries of the Viburnum have been recognized in blues, reds, oranges and yellows. Viburnum is a species of evergreen, semi-evergreen and deciduous shrubs and sometimes large trees. Somewhat interesting are the many different leaf textures of the Viburnum. From leathery to glossy to variegated, there are many choices available to find the right Viburnum for your garden.
